This was the last published comic by Jimmie before he signed up for World War 1. It was mentioned by a few sources that he had actually left the Toronto Star sometime after this date he apparently moved to Montreal to further his career at an engraving house. He signed up for service in the military for the overseas expeditionary force (69th Battery) on May 17, 1916.

I theorize that he left as the war propaganda cartoons he was tasked with after the war began in 1914 were tedious, much like this one, with emphasis on the heroic volunteers, the evil Kaiser, the brutal Germans, and the indecisive Americans.
